Imagine Dragons Digipak
- Shot distance; The image or illustrations could be considered as being a long shot as it allows the person looking at it to see not only the boy but his isolating setting. The distance makes the image seem daunting and isolating as it shows that there is nothing but the boy and the platforms that he stands on.
- The image is composed with the so that the character is in the exact centre of the front cover, he faces away from the viewer. This further emphasises the characters loneliness as it sets him at the centre of the albums universe with out anyone to see. It suggest a theme for the album is isolation or that its aimed at people who feel this way. The platforms all reach up to the on the boy is on putting even more emphasis on how he's at the centre and it also connotes that he is of some importance is he is at the top of it all. It links to one of the songs on the album, "On Top Of The World". It could suggest how the band feels after the album release.
- There is only one image which is that on the album cover. It keeps in line with the themes of isolation.
- Despite not featuring the band it keeps inline with forms and conventions of the rock genre. It uses conventional colours, darker/deeper blues and black. It also focuses on the music on the back cover rather than more images. The text is also simple and easy to read.
- On this album the integration of text is more then images. As previously mentioned there is only one images and so the text takes monopoly on the back and front cover. The text is more prominent on the back cover as it list the songs featured on the disc. It suggests that the music is as important as the overall look of the album or even more so.
- The colours on the front cover are a mix of deep and light colours to create a late evening/early morning sky which would relate to the title of the album. The text is a bold block font that is easy to read an understand. It stands out on the background and fits with the simplistic aesthetic of the covers. The sold black of the back cover makes the white text standout.
- On the front cover the text is place above the image as to not obscure or take away from it. It fits in with is but doesn't blend in or get lost in the background. The text on the back also takes central focus like the image on the from. It makes it seem importance and will be the first thing peoples eyes land on when they turn the album over as there is nothing else to look at.
- As I have mentioned there are a few themes that are suggested by this album, those being isolation and being at the top. More aesthetic themes would be the use of white text only and the bareness of the whole album as it is very simple.
- The lighting for the image is high key.
